Time to break up??
The last few days I’ve been thinking it’s time for me to break up with Weight Watchers.
That’s scary and exciting at the same time.
For 18 months I’ve been paying $40 a month to lose weight. I’ve lost 55 pounds with Weight Watchers, but my weight loss has slowed down.
I feel like saying I want to break up means I am giving up or throwing in the towel. But that is not my heart.
There are millions of people who would love to eat from my trash can! Yes, 1/2 eaten pb&j, bites of pancakes, left overs, and crumbs would be more of a meal than most people. So here I sit, fat and sassy, spending $40 a month to lose weight. To have tools of self-control in my eating.
I’ve learned a lot! I’ve got so many new tools that I use to lose weight. So I don’t think Weight Watchers is bad, I just think it’s time to break up.
That money could be used to feed others through ministries! $480 a year is a lot of money.
At this point I am not even doing the current Weight Watcher program and they are making even more changes this month to a program that doesn’t work for me. I’ve got a great support system on Facebook. I weigh in weekly at home.
But….there’s a fear of going back. I don’t ever want to be a size 22/24 again. I don’t want to get out of breath going up stairs. I don’t want sore knees because of extra weight. I don’t want to weigh over 200 pounds!
So I put this out there for accountability and support. I have about 25 pounds more I’d like to lose.
Can I do this on my own? Any words of advice, support, encouragement? Do you think I should stay with WW or break up?

I really have no idea… I’ve never done weight watchers. It does seem like a lot of money to spend a month. But if it helps you it’s totally worth it. Being healthy saves a lot of money in the long run. But… if it’s not really helping you anymore… then I guess it’s not worth it. I’m sure you can do it! Maybe if you found a friend or two that you weighed in with each week that would help!?!?!? I don’t know. I finished losing my baby weight by being on this silly allergy diet for Ethan. But I don’t recommend that!:) It hasn’t been fun… but it feels SO great to finally be down at my weight goal.
@WasabiBek - Yes, I was thinking of asking some key friends to weigh in with me weekly! That would help!
Do you exercise? Besides changing your eating habits…maybe adding some cardio and weight bearing exercise would help burn the rest off. Accountability has helped me immensely w/ exercise…I have a few friends and my mom that I exercise w/…now that the weather is getting colder, I’m going to start doing a exercise video w/ a friend at 6 am. Anyway…that’s my 2 cents. I have trouble staying consistent…but hopefully once Justin’s off of work for the winter, I can be more consistent.
@goffandfamily - No I don’t do enough of it! I love to walk, thought I’d do more of it this summer…but yes I have no accountability in that area and need to kick that up a bit. The older the boys get the easier it does get…now I just have to do it
Thanks!
Hi Heather, I wanted to piggy back off of the previous woman who suggested exercise. The Lord has really given me a heart for running. I started running a few years ago but did not start hitting longer distances until this past summer. I did 3 races this summer, a 5k, 9k and 10k. I find it interesting that something so intense and challenging is so addictive! I am on a group called Daily Mile (dailymile.com) which is like facebook for athletes
You record you workouts and can even post them to FB. Posting them to FB helps keep me accountable. I have “be-friended” several people on the DM site, including several Canadian’s who speak French who are VERY encouraging! These women run 10 miles easy, while I huff and puff at 3 or 4 and yet they are always chearing me on. I have a love for the French language so I am able to sharpen my French, as well as establish social relationships with people from different countries (and are probably non believers). I do not have the “runner’s” body type (I am VERY curvy) and yet God has given me a “runner’s” heart. I’ve come in last in several of my races, and yet my drive and desire to keep at it is still going strong. I know you have a passion for walking, so I would encourage you to pursue walking. I pray that God fans the flame already there for this activity which is actually better for your knees then running and still a great cardio exercise. As it has gotten colder (I’m in Ohio) I tend to run on the treadmill (which never appealed to me before this season of my life) and I have several friends who I run outside with on Sunday mornings (they are the only way I will be running outside in 30 degree weather!) Since running this summer I have run over 250 lbs and lost 15lbs…truthfully most of the wait fell off once I changed my eating but running has given me a “slimmer” appearance and my legs look great (or so I’ve been told)! LOL…Running for me is not only a great way to work out but is such a spiritual activity that I share with the Lord. It is a source of worship for me…my hiding place. I pray that you find the same
If you decide to join daily mile, look me up! God Bless
meant to say, I have run over 250 miles! oops, lol
